STAFF TESTIMONIALS

I’ve been working as a part of the company for about 6 years. In that time I have been able to progress from being a Support Worker, to Team Leader and now to a Supports Coordinator. It is comforting to know that at UDC there is a platform to progress in your career from within.

I like being a Support Worker because I like supporting people in their environment and helping them achieve their goals. I have learned a lot, I am new to this industry and I am looking forward to helping our clients. Why did I choose being a support worker for my career? I have always like helping people and being part of the community. I recommend being a Disability Support Worker, it is rewarding, enjoyable and a lot of fun.

I started working with UDC in February 2018 as a Disability Support Worker. I was part-time to begin with, then slowly built up my skill base and it became my full time job. I was working with people we support in the community through to high needs people in a supported shared home environment. Through this time UDC has supported me when times were tough for me personally, encouraged me to expand my foundation of knowledge and push me out of my comfort zone. I was an Interim Team Leader for a shared home before I settled into my current position of Team Coordinator for Non-Residential clients. I thoroughly enjoy the work that I do, as it is challenging and it gives me a sense of achievement when a person we support says thank you!

I decided I wanted a change from my role as a Case manager and work more actively out in the field with participants and their families. I love the proverb that says ‘when we refresh others we refresh ourselves’. I can’t think of a more rewarding satisfying occupation this side of eternity, than to be assisting and supporting vulnerable, disadvantaged people reach their full potential and live happy satisfying lives. I’ve been working in the disability and aged care sectors now for approximately 20 years and I’ve been working for this company now for 6 years. Thank you UDC.
